Not something that I have heard of from my era
Nor did I witnessed it in my parents’ time
Self love is self care
After a seemingly unending battles with growing up angst
Struggles with studies to find a place in the working world
Then dealing with work expectations, results and ambitions
Navigating a relationship to bring it to fruition
Meeting Children’s and spouse’s needs and demands
Fulfilling duo family’s expectations and responsibilities
Finally in my senior years, a time to focus on my goals to be fulfilled and happy
To achieve my long awaited dreams
What were they?
To restart, leave out those that were attained thus far
And strive to achieve what are still achievable
Like having the blessings of pink health
Like attaining the dreams I had yearned but had no time for
Like the specific goals that were left on the back burner
I now have time for them
Life’s thrilling journey beckons once more and seems almost infinite.
a short poem

Reading is the balm to a troubled soul
When daily strife confounds and confuses one
Perplexes and bewilders another
Take heed;
Realize that Reading awakens a sleepy spirit to all possibilities
It nourishes a being to new ideas
And opens doors to provide great insights
Reading could lead to personal transformation and self-redemption
And it bestows upon one an inimitable literary style
That you can carry with confidence
Life’s problems are after all ubiquitous and commonplace
The answers and solutions to life’s myriad questions
Can be found among the writings of wise men
In the words of those who went before us
All troubles are nothing new
Those who do not read continue to be swarmed by problems
And be doomed to relive the past

I never thought I could do it
Those boring monkey bars
How I had wished I could scale them like a ladder
But the force of attraction proved too much for me
One hand off the first bar and I dropped
One day, it occurred to me why they were so aptly named
Think like the monkey, feel like the monkey, move like the monkey
So I began to swing with the persona of one
The swaying became easy like the gentle, cool breeze
Like the rustling of leaves on the branches of trees
Like the rippling grass in the gentle wind
While holding sway over the monkey bars
I uncovered, the power of imagination
