The wall before me
Studded with stones
Of all shapes, sizes, and tones
The design, the colors, the textures,
An eclectic mix, they beckoned me.
Carefully, I tread
Even as I dread
Stuck at a height
With no help in sight
But trust the belay
Trust that things will turn out ok
This eclectic mix beckoned me.
A wall scaled is a triumph
It reminds one of life’s trials
Peppered with stones
You are indeed alone
Predetermine your route
Avoid pitfalls if you could
In any case, the eclectic mix beckoned me
Or start over again
There is so much to gain
Just take a step at a time
You will trip and fall sometimes
The thrill was going up and down and finally up
The eclectic mix beckoned me
Not by might nor by force
But a gentle leaning to the wall
Take a breath and be steadfast
You will get there soon, at last
Life is just like the climbing wall
Steadily, surely, give your all
The eclectic mix continues to beckon me.
