Dear Brother, we salute you
In the face of death, you slayed it
You refused to allow its slow torturous hands to drag you into its pits
When you knew that your condition was unredeemable, dire, and painless
You made the decision to stop further radical treatment
That would otherwise have delighted Death
Its a bloodthirsty attempt to devastate you more
That would have put you into a senseless stupor
And would drive exceeding pain into your loved ones
Instead, we had precious times with the family in your last days
When you were bright and awake
When you could silently bid goodbye to us
We were inspired by your courage
To live life when living and to let go when dyingÂ
Through the windows of the hospital, you witnessed the fireworks of our National Day Parade rehearsalÂ
Life and death are a celebration
That spectacular moment was a fitting curtain call to the good deeds that you had done.

Ms Rosalind, that is indeed a very touching and heartfelt ODE to ur closest of kins, one whom u took care for many many years as he took care of ur parents in their post retirement age.
As the psalmist said, dust thou art, to dust you returnest, was not spoken of the soul. And deep inside all of us, we know instinctly , by our intuition and our 6th sense, that our core being, consciousness and awareness will persist for eternity,, even as the flesh is subject to the earthly time frame with expiry date..
But in our metaphysical state of energy being, we cannot be destroyed for God has created us and gave us His breadth of life.
Take heart then that ur late dear sibling is happy now whereever he is , for he has completed his earthly task as best as he could , and now he is at peace with God and rejoicing in His eternal bliss.
