Me:
Anyone wants to adopt a defiant, beautiful chicken
Give her freedom or give her death
Give her a mate and she may lay some eggs
She had lost her mate but it was fate
Have Compassion for goodness sake
Reply:
Alas, to have a foul- tempered fowl would be too much to take…
Me:
I concede that chicken is not an easy pet
It may be more destructive than a cat
It pulls, it pegs, it scratches
But look forward to the eggs that it may hatch
In lean times or as a last resort when it proves too much, the chicken can be put in the pot.
Reply;
To keep a peckish hen for its eggs, surely that would mean enjoyment at its very last legs,
You call, you caress, you clean, you care,
I’m sure there’s affection for the pet chicken that you bear,
To place a pet hen on the chopping block and then in the pot
As a last resort? Surely not!
Me;
Hahaha, testing you. You have compassion. This chicken is yours anytime. She is safe with you.
Reply;
Thanks, but I’d say it is too early to be hen-pecked!
Two days later
Me;
You may be pleased to know
Coco the cheeky dame has found a home
A place so lush, with birds of the same feather
A village so nice even in this hot weather
Coco will get used to a variety of noises
Dogs and cats and chickens and horses
She would find her niche in this awesome place
As it is a community with abundant space
We wish Coco a brand new start
A happy ending to the matters of the heart. Guess the place?
Reply;
Bird park?
Me;
Wrong. Back In the Kampong where her fellow mates are

‘The chicken with the fighting spirit ‘

Beautiful poetic exchanges between 2 creative minds of geniuses, the Coco’s owner and the respondent. Very enlightening and entertaining indeed, these are real life lessons to be learned.
The respondent shows compassion to adopt the pet, but then he fears he will be henpecked by the beautiful chic, a dilemma faced by him and many others too, for life seems to be a choice between 2 extremes. The solution is to drink a cup of moderation, to find peace and balance in life, based not on human wisdom alone but on the wisdom of God. The happy ending comes when the owner returns the beautiful chicken to her natural habitat, where freedom and joy reign supreme for the pet.
In contrast, the henpecked respondent would have preferred the chicken to be sent to the bird’s park , to be caged for all tourists to see and admire the chic’s beauty. To each his/her own perspective in life.
