The Art Of Living

February 1, 2024 by SUMMER LOTUS 4 Comments

1st Feb 2024. 2 min read

Life is complex even if you want it to be simple

Sometimes you become perplexed even if you like to remain cool

One wants to be simple but life won’t let you

The society changes so does the culture and the environment

With change comes progress, convenience and opportunity

Simplicity may be the ultimate sophistication, they say

But Stay simple and you become unsophisticated

As you fall by the wayside and wonder why

The world passes you by and seems arrogant

Because people are struggling with change themselves

And have no time to stop by to coach you

Change is like a constant stream

These days, it’s more like a torrent of water

But it’s always for the better

Only if people appreciate, understand and accept its challenges

Do not complain why things are getting confusing and complicated

If you would only jump into this river of change

Enjoy the wild ride

Tamper it occasionally by walking onto quiet trails and retreating into yourself

Sniff the flowers and breathe in the crisp, cool and clean air

Look on the bright side and Pray often

Maintain that delicate balance of action and inaction

The world has so much more to offer even as evil happens elsewhere

You are running solo

Experience the path of uncertainties, learn on the go and help others along with you

That’s the fulfilling mission one can have while you walk this earth

In your predestined period of time

Ah! Back In Tokyo

30th Jan 2024. 1 min read.

Published in ‘The Power of Poetry

The soothing sounds of the rumbling trains

The waft of of freshly baked bread

The sight of people moving briskly through the streets

The delectable taste of food prepared with love and care

It’s the verve and vitality Tokyo metropolis

That fuels my spirit, senses and soul

Tokyo throbs like no other city does

She invigorates me like no other city does

Tokyo is art; its creativity captivates me

Tokyo is culture; its tradition impresses me

Tokyo is beauty; its sceneries stun me

Tokyo is science; new innovations abound and architecture astounds me

Back to Tokyo

For rejuvenation, revitalisation and renewal

Back to Tokyo

When one needs to move ahead again with purpose, panache and passion

Ah Tokyo, the cradle of my comfort

Morning Thoughts

January 15, 2024 by SUMMER LOTUS 1 Comment

15/1/24 1 min poetry ( also published in The Power of Poetry)

What an awesome morning

Another chance at life

The air is crisp, clear and cool

My soul is instantly uplifted

Another day of exploring and experience

A lovely breakfast even if it’s just a coffee

That warms the heart and livens the soul

A job I love

Friends to chat with

Hobby to indulge

A fortunate family

That’s a good life

Live, enjoy and be thankful

To discover new passions, possibilities and potential

That are still unknown to us

A Dentist’s Philosophy

January 4, 2024 by SUMMER LOTUS 4 Comments

…to her young intern

4th Jan 2024. 1 min read published in The Power Of Poetry

What can I teach you young lady

That is valuable for your life

Values that money can’t buy

That the road ahead is not as smooth as you wish

There will be bumps and potholes indeed

Some will make you stumble and even bleed

But you will pick yourself up.

As you are taught to be calm

It seems like you are given a balm

So that when you fall, you will not falter, at least not mentally and spiritually

Your mind will remain crystal clear

Solutions will surface, kind words will arise from your lips, your hands and legs will remain steady

You can rectify the situation

Because nothing serious will happen

If you do not panic

Everything will smoothen out like a silky fabric

It’s here that I practice calmly so that you will imbibe what we believe to be good for your well being

I must thank you too as I benefit from working with you

Based on this principle of tranquility

Don’t even flinch, things are not as bad as you imagine

Kind words, positive thoughts, and a good deed will carry your day as they do mine

And we can all have a great time

My New Year Resolutions For 2024

January 2, 2024 by SUMMER LOTUS 2 Comments

Jan 1st 2024 1 min read posted in The Power of Poetry on medium.com

Resolutions are often broken

Because they were often perfunctorily taken

This year I found the power in setting my goals

As I analyses them carefully and clearly with soul

First is self assessment

As they say, know thyself and the battle is half won

Know your weaknesses and your strengths

Work on them and achieve your ends

Next is self discipline

Set your time, learning effort, focus and be real keen

To attain knowledge, awareness and good health

You may even increase your wealth

Finally is self healing

For oneself and the World, PRAY

As one cannot control what is beyond one’s power

Prayer can and to that I add reading and writing with fervour

To each goal, their specifics are named

Everyday, this will be my game

When another year end nears

I hope to say it’s been a Great Year!
