Author’s mutt, Happy

Happy, the love of my life

Everything was perfect about you except you were a runaway kid

When you went missing without my knowing

I did not relent as I went searching

Such a small creature could create so much upheaval in my being

At one point, I became so good at philosophizing

That I could handle a new beginning

But deep down, there was no pretending

That this event was too heartrending

When suddenly, a white shadow darted right

I leapt from the car and grabbed the mutt

By now, all terror stricken by the ‘wild’

But both of us were glad you were back in my arms like a child.

Thank God!

People think that cats do not think

It depends on where you do this thing

Finally found a couch where my ideas flow

No wonder the shrinks are in the know

Is it something about this mystic couch

Or does the ceiling makes me vouch

Or does lying flat makes me ponder well

Getting in touch with my inner self.

All folks need different strokes

God made us this way

So that we could develop the knack of adapting to others

While strengthening our tolerance to our differences

Go with the flow

Know what is right and what is wrong

Know what pleases a person and what does not

Know what the strengths of the other person are so that you can benefit

You should confer your wisdom too if desired by the other party

Then it is a win win situation

There will be peace, harmony and happiness in the relationship that will lasts.

Go with the flow.

We are soldiers in our own way

Marching on every single day

Looking for things to fulfil our lives

Whether we make merry or otherwise

Along the way, you find your thrills

You fall in love and develop your skills

Then you find some meaning to live

Excited that you have some gifts

Hopefully they bring love and laughter to everyone

Then sit back for now as one’s good work is done.

1 There are no more than 17 syllables.

2 Haiku is composed of only 3 lines.

3 Typically, first line has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables, and the third has 5 syllables.

4 It is a short, unrhymed poem

• A Senryu poem is a three-line unrhymed Japanese poetic form similar to haiku usually in a satiric or ironic vein. Senryu is concerned with human nature and its foibles
• Like Haiku, it consists of 17 syllables, divided over three lines in a 5 – 7 – 5 pattern.
• But Haiku evokes images in the natural world, a moment in time, an enlightenment
